MXR Reverb

MXR Reverb

$0.00

MXR is no slouch when it comes to making quality pedals. With this one however, there are some uncharacteristic disappointments. Ease of use is not this pedal’s strong point, nor is tonal quality. It seems as though MXR might have focused a little too hard on on fitting a large amount of reverb options in this pedal, while having less than enough concern for sonic integrity.

Interface:  2.5/5
Although this stompbox manages to fit a whole lot into a small package, the interface leaves a bit to be desired. In order to access its many reverb sounds, you must push the tone knob to cycle through them. Not only can this be somewhat cumbersome and frustrating, the the labeling for the reverb types can be hard to read.

Versatility: 3/5
This is a rather versatile reverb pedal, especially considering its size. With 6 reverb styles, there is more than enough to choose from. It shortfall comes in the form of its controls. There is a palpable lack of manipulability to its many sounds. The user may be left wishing for more control over this pedal’s effects.

Quality of Effect: 2/5
Even though this pedal is riddled with effect options, some of them might not be that useful. This is because of a rather disappointing thinness to the sounds. There seems to be a lack of body and substance to many of this pedal’s options.

Live application: 3/5
Because of its many options, this might seem like a great live pedal. But for those who like to nitpick, the slight difficulty of use and its tonal issues might push some users away.
