"When I use my pedals on my saxophone I'm not necessarily trying to sound like a horn section. One of my bands (Funky Dawgz Brass Band) is a horn section and the other (Sophistafunk) lends itself to the sound of a single horn better. I like to enhance my sound primarily during solos. I really like the sound of the envelope filter on the saxophone so thats usually my go to. Ill often double that with my harmonizer pedal set to an octave below to give a fat wah synth funk sound. I like to engage the pedals at different points in my solos so as Im building the solo musically I'm also adding different effects and transitioning into different sounds where appropriate. I try not to over use effects during a show because I feel that can ruin the value of having them. There are also plenty of times where I will play with no effects at all because I don't want my natural tone to be hidden. Ill use my delay and reverb pedals on more "open" sounding songs to make a solo seem much bigger and more epic and spacey sounding."
