TC Electronic Sub 'N' Up

TC Electronic Sub 'N' Up

$0.00

One of TC’s newest pedals, the Sub N Up is clearly meant to be a direct competitor to the Micro and Nano POGs from Electro-Harmonix. This goal is accomplished well and shows some definite similarities between the two. This TC pedal has the same articulation issues in the lower octaves as the POG. If you are looking for a solid octave machine that will not break the bank, but will give you some nice sonic options, this is a great machine for you.

Complexity: Medium

Interface:  4/5This pedal's controls are truly straightforward and easy. The addition of the TonePrint enhances its interface's quality

Versatility: 2/5
Although this pedal only has controls to effect the upper octave and lower two octaves, with TonePrint you can add many other effects to its sound.

Tonal reproduction: 3/5
Although it recreates a sound well in its upper and lower octaves, there is a large amount of low-end in the lower octave settings. It might be necessary to use a lower setting in that part of the pedal’s controls. The articulation, especially in the lower octaves, is not reproduced well and is characterized by soft pillowy sound.

Tracking speed: 4.5/5
Tracking speed is very close to perfect.

Live application: 2.5/5
This is a well designed pedal for adding upper and lower octave voices to your regular signal. The Sub N Up is not a good way to mimic a baritone sax if you are playing alto or tenor. If you are looking for a pedal to give you multiple octaves at once, plus a little extra hidden in its external controls, then this is your pedal.
