HornFX Review

Interface:  4.5/5
The more you explore this pedal, the more you are surprised by how much you can do. Although this has the potential to be a very complicated pedal, it manages, just like its brother the Nemesis, to put all of that craziness and the insane amount of controls into a package that is incredibly easy to use and understand. For the inexperienced pedal user, this is a great pedal to take out of the box and use in the most basic way. But, it is also a magnificent pedal for those looking to have all kinds of crazy tweaks and parameters for each sound. The real beauty of this pedal's interface is that it allows you to use at as simply or as complexly as you choose. It can truly be a comfortable pedal for any user.

Versatility: 5/5
This pedal has SO MUCH. First, there is the 20 reverb engines, that are only further expanded by the use of the app. Next you have the many control options: MIDI functionality, an expression input, on-board presets, optional on the fly tweaks for each sound, a hold function, interfacing with the Source Audio Hub,and of course, the dual DSP. The dual DSP brings this pedal's versatility to the next level. You can have two reverb ready to go at one time. You can activate one or the other, but what is really special is the ability to use both AT THE SAME TIME! The Ventris allows you to either have both reverbs working in sequence or parallel to each other. This unprecedented two-in-one ability can expand your sonic pallate exponentiall and put you into two dimensions of reverb at once. This is sure as versatile as any reverb pedal has ever been.

Quality of effect: 4.5/5
The theme of this pedal is options. And high quality ones at that. Not only does this pedal have enough controls to allow you to make each reverb sound exactly how you choose, but it boasts some of the most organic sounding reverbs we have heard yet. The spring reverb engine in this pedal is a major accomplishment in the recreation of a classic analog sound. The Ventris's 20+ reverb engines are all of high quality and can bring true professionalism to your sound.

Live application: 5/5
This is one of the best reverb pedals for live use that we have seen. The Ventris's ease of use, combined with its incredible flexibility make it a perfect addition to any board. Not only will you be able to achieve anything you could possibly want as far as reverb goes, but it takes into account the challenges of the modern musician. This pedal is almost half the size of any other reverb pedal in its class. That small size males it that much more valuable for any musician who needs to be space conscious on their pedal board. This pedal truly checks all the boxes for live use: Extensive sonic capability, extreme ease of use, small size, and a world of sounds that can truly enhanve your live performance.

Audio

These first two clips use a basic hall reverb. There is a clip with Bari sax and Alto to highlight the consistency across the tonal spectrum. This is a great example of the Ventris tackling a standard, warm reverb sound that will be incredibly useful in conventional contexts.

An example of a beautifully effective but not overbearing swell. Actually ducks the natural tone extremely well, considering that the pre-delay is all the way down.
