Providence Velvet Comp

Providence Velvet Comp

$0.00

The Velvet Comp is a well designed and nicely laid out pedal. But what is has in simplicity, it lacks in tonal integrity. Although this pedal  has the potential for a wide range of compression ratios, might have too much effect on the user’s tone, making it tough to find a setting that will accomplish your compression goals without sacrificing your sound.

Complexity: Simple

Interface:  3.5/5
Like most three knob compressors, this one is laid out simply and well. The level knob does not get too out of control at its highest settings, and the attack knob can add some nice expressiveness to its effect.

Noise: 3.5/5
This is a quiet pedal.

Live application: 2/5
Sadly, there is no tonal manipulation on this pedal. The compression you hear from this box is fairly stuffy and could use a tone knob to combat its mid range presence. There also seems to be no enough subtlety in the amount of compression available.
